Trees
I love trees. They have so many personalities, there is always an endless supply of subjects when I need a new one. I particularly enjoy finding lone or solitary trees like the two above or the one below, as they seem to be overseeing the area they grow in, as if they are protecting it. Here are a selection of tree "portraits" from vintage to contemporary. The photo above was taken off I-25 about five miles north of Bernalillo, New Mexico.

Blue Trees, Tingley Beach, Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Blue Trees is a performance and installation artwork by the artist Konstantin Dimopoulos that uses a color transformation to provoke discussion about global deforestation. The trunk and branches of live trees are colored blue using a biologically-safe natural pigment in water. It was first created in pilot form in Melbourne in 2005 and launched in March 2011 at the Vancouver Biennale, Canada.
