The Importance of Timing in Photography
The French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson came up with the phrase, "The Decisive Moment." No, I'm not comparing my work to his -- two different worlds completely. But understanding timing in photography, anticipating the perfect moment when a photograph says it all, is imperative to success. I felt as if I had times the above photograph perfectly when I took it. the sun is peeking through the trees. The basketball is at the apex of its arch. The basketball player's arm is outstretched after just releasing the ball and the two other players are looking avidly at the basket, anticipating the outcome.
