Luck in Photography vers 9.0
I drive past the Abiquiu Dam in Northern New Mexico often as it is in my “neighborhood” so to speak.
I’ve photographed the Dam in all seasons and weather conditions but the most activity in terms of people at the Dam occurs, as you might have guessed, in the summer.
There is an inlet to the Dam from Canones Creek and, as I was passing, there were some fishing boats and Jet Skis on the inlet. This boy decided to venture into this cove along the inlet and perform this zig-zag maneuver and as quick as he had entered the cove and “entertained” me unintentionally, he was off.
This was one of those fortuitous situations that, if I had passed the Dam a minute or two later, I wouldn’t have seen the boy on the Jet Ski. It would have been as if the boy on his Jet Ski had never been there at all.
When I think about these kinds of fleeting situations, it prompts me to wonder what other opportune or serendipitous subjects I miss on a daily basis.
