Storm and Rain
One of the reasons I enjoy photographing in New Mexico is the fact the sky is ever-changing. Clouds fill the sky in an artistic display but rain and storm clouds are my favorites. In other parts of the world you might see whole gray sky on rainy days, whereas here, you’ll often encounter a storm in one section of the photo surrounded by a cloud-filled blue sky. It’s combinations like these, which intrigue me. When you include the drama of the rain or storm clouds with subjects such as adobe church ruins, abandoned Americana such as the Big Chief Gas Station on Highway 550 on the Zia Pueblo or iconic landscape landmarks such as Cerro Pedernal, you’re offered the chance to create some dramatic photos.
