Luck in Photography vers 10
I have a number of images that feature the Abiquiu Dam and Cerro Pedernal. They are both located in what some refer to as Georgia O’Keeffe Country. It’s my “neighborhood” so to speak.
I was passing the Dam on a very still day and knew the surface would be glassy, so I drove down to the area where the boat launch dock is located.
There was a boy about eight years old heading toward the dock with a large rock in his hands. I rushed to catch up with him in an attempt to photograph the splash the rock would make when it hit the surface.
I knew I had only one chance to catch the splash and the accompanying water droplets and fortunately I timed the shutter release perfectly catching the splash and the droplets rising high into the are.
Cerro Pedernal and the clouds in the rear made an enticing composition.
I thought black and white accentuated the fairly minimalistic composition and enhanced the contrast between the droplets and the dark sky.
