Car Portraits
Cars have what some might refer to as “personalities.” It’s those personalities that I try to bring out in my automotive photos.
The images range from whole car portraits such as Manuel Vega’s 1950 Mercury parked outside the Custom Tattoo shop on Central Avenue in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Eppie Martinez, of Chimayó, New Mexico, exhibiting his car hopping prowess at the 2019 Lowrider Day held on the Española Plaza.
Martinez's father, Ray Martinez, whose truck Eppie was hopping was known as one of the most knowledgeable hydraulics experts in Northern New Mexico.
The “portrait” of his hopping pickup was the last time the truck competed as Ray died shortly thereafter.
